Alberto Mangiante

Born in 1969, he graduated in Law from the University of Genoa; he never pursued a career in that field and decided to attend the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia in Rome, where he had been accepted onto the Acting course. But that too turned out not to be the right path, even though his time at the Centre sparked a deep curiosity about cinema. After graduating from the Centre, he had the opportunity to start working on film sets, first as an assistant and later as an assistant director. His early experiences were all with Italian production companies and Italian directors.
He began working on international productions in 1994, when he was hired for a long-term project in Morocco on two productions by Dino de Laurentiis. American directors, American actors, big budgets – an unexpected and wonderful turning point. Thanks to his work on international productions, he was eventually admitted to the D.G.A. (Directors Guild of America).
He has worked on film productions, television productions and also on many advertising productions. Among the notable productions on which he has most recently worked as first assistant director are the series “Portobello” directed by Marco Bellocchio (2025), the films “Fino alla fine” directed by Gabriele Muccino (2024) and “Francesca Cabrini” (2024) directed by Alejandro Monteverde.
He is currently working on an Amazon production directed by Francesco Carrozzini.
