Previously a VFX artist at BUF Compagnie and later visual effects supervisor on Batman & Robin (Warner Bros., PolyGram Filmed Entertainment, 1997), Fight Club (Fox 2000 Pictures, Regency Enterprises, Linson Films, 1999) and The Lady and the Duke (Compagnie Éric Rohmer, Pathé, KC Medien, 2001), Francesco Grisi founded EDI Effetti Digitali Italiani in 2001.
Over the course of 18 years, he has created the visual effects for more than 90 films, collaborating with various directors — including Gabriele Mainetti, Gabriele Muccino, Matteo Rovere, Gabriele Salvatores and Paolo Virzì — and on international series, including American Gods (Living Dead Guy Productions, FremantleMedia North America, J.A. Green Construction Corp., The Blank Corporation, Starz Originals, 2017) and A Series of Unfortunate Events (Paramount Television, 2017).
In 2017, he opened a department dedicated to the development of films and television projects with a high visual effects content. He produced the feature film Tutto il mio folle amore (Indiana Production Company, Rai Cinema, 2019), directed by Gabriele Salvatores.
He is also a member of the Italian Film Academy – David di Donatello Awards and, since 2019, of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. In 2025, he founded HAI Human & Artificial Imagination.
