Guido Chiesa

A director and screenwriter, Guido Chiesa began his career in cinema as an assistant director and in production, working in the United States on films by Jim Jarmusch, Amos Poe and Michael Cimino.
With Il caso Martello (Brooklyn Film, Fomar Film, Surf Film, Raidue, 1991) he participated in the Venice Film Festival, winning the Grolla d’Oro for Best Debut in Direction. With Babylon – La paura è la migliore amica dell’uomo (Carlo Degli Esposti, Brooklyn Film, Palomar, 1995) he won the FIPRESCI International Critics’ Prize at the Torino Film Festival, and in 2000 competed at Venice, where he received the “ragazzi e cinema” award with Il partigiano Johnny (Fandango, 2000), which also won the Jury Prize at the Stuttgart Film Festival, while the documentary Alice è in paradiso (Fandango, 2002) won the Festival dei Popoli in Florence and Lavorare con lentezza (Fandango, 2004) received the Mastroianni Prize and a Ciak d’Oro at Venice.
He directed Quo Vadis Baby (Colorado Film, SKY Italia, 2008), Sky Italia’s first original series, and Io sono con te (Colorado Film, Magda Film, Rai Cinema, 2010).
In 2011, he published Manuale di regia cinematografica for UTET. He has directed music videos for numerous bands, including Afterhours, Marlene Kuntz and Assalti Frontali.
He works as executive and artistic producer on various films for Colorado Film Production.
