A screenwriter on numerous episodes of popular TV series including Un medico in famiglia (Publispei, Rai Fiction, 1998), I Cesaroni (Publispei, 2006) and Benvenuti a tavola (Taodue, Wildside, 2012), Isabella Aguilar served as Head Writer on Grand Hotel (Cattleya, Rai Fiction, Beta Film, 2011) and Tutto può succedere (Rai Fiction, Cattleya, 2015), and as Creative Showrunner on the series Baby (Fabula Pictures, 2018).
Her first film, Dieci inverni by Valerio Mieli (Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia Production, Rai Cinema, United Film Company, 2009), was presented at the Venice Film Festival and won the David di Donatello and the Nastro d’Argento, among numerous other national and international awards. This was followed by In fondo al bosco (One More Pictures, Sky Italia, 2015), The Place (Medusa Film, Lotus Production, 2017) by Paolo Genovese, for which she received a David di Donatello nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay, and the musical Un’avventura (Los Hermanos, Lucky Red, Rai Cinema, 2019). Other titles include: I figli del freddo (Mood Film, Weydemann Bros. GmbH, Samson Films, Rai Cinema, 2017), Pezzi unici (Rai Fiction, Indiana Production, Cassiopea Film Production, 2019), Luna Park (Fandango, 2021) and Il primo giorno della mia vita (Medusa Film, Lotus Production, 2021).
