Managing Director of Angel Station, where he works as a Drama Producer, John Yorke is a storytelling consultant and lecturer. Former Managing Director of Company Pictures, where he served as Executive Producer on Wolf Hall (BBC, Playground Entertainment, Prescience Productions, Company Pictures, Masterpiece Productions, 2015), he has worked as Head of Drama for Channel 4 Television and as Controller for BBC Drama Production. As Commissioning Editor and Executive Producer, in 2004 he produced Shameless (Bonanza Productions, John Wells Productions, Warner Bros. Television) and Bodies (Hat Trick Productions), while in 2006 he worked on Life on Mars (Kudos Film and Television, BBC Wales, Red Planet Pictures, 2006) and The Street (ITV Production). A multiple BAFTA Award winner as Commissioner and Programme Maker, in 2005 he founded the BBC Writers Academy, a training program for television writers. Author of the screenwriting manual Into the Woods, he is also a narrative consultant and Visiting Professor of English Language and Literature at the University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne.
