Leonardo Fasoli

Leonardo Fasoli graduated in Spanish language and literature in Lima and in contemporary history and cultural anthropology in Rome. He began working as a freelance journalist and researcher at the Lelio Basso Foundation and the Gramsci Institute, and served as a volunteer teaching assistant in Theoretical Philosophy and Modern History before discovering screenwriting during a course taught by Ugo Pirro.
Having discovered this new field, he initially attended Leo Benvenuti’s lectures and worked with Rodolfo Sonego on a series for Ugo Tognazzi.
In 1992, he went to Venice with a short film he had written. In 1993, he won the Giovani Festival in Turin with a short film he had written, as well as the ANPI Award. In 1994, he won the Solinas Award. He was nominated for the Globo d’Oro twice for Best Screenplay and twice for Best Story.
He won the Monte Carlo Film Festival for Borsellino and for Gomorra: The Series. His projects were selected for C21 and sold in many countries outside Italy: Maltese: The Commissioner’s Novel, Don’t Leave Me and I Will Look for You.
