Paola Randi

Born in Milan, she holds a degree in Law and complemented her legal studies with training in art, music and theatre. Following her work with international NGOs supporting women in the economy alongside her mother, Maria Grazia Randi, she has devoted herself exclusively to cinema since 2003, writing and directing films, series, documentaries and experimental works.
Her debut film, Into Paradiso, was screened at the Venice Film Festival and won numerous awards, including Best Film at Nanni Moretti’s Bimbi Belli Festival and four David di Donatello nominations. With Tito e gli alieni, she won the Nastro d’Argento for Best Screenplay. She has directed episodes for the Netflix series Luna Nera and Zero, and the films La Befana vien di notte 2 – Le Origini and Beata te for Sky Italia.
In 2024, she presented La storia del Frank e della Nina (Fandango) in Venice and served as co-writer and director of the RAI series L’altro Ispettore.
She was Vice-President of 100Autori, a member of Giornate degli Autori (2021–2023) and founder of the association’s Equal Opportunities Group. Together with Federico Parenti, Chiara Sforni and Fred Ambrose, she founded and edited the magazine TTR, which from 1996 to 2000 lent its name to an international experimental theatre festival.
