Roberto Sessa

Film and television producer, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Picomedia.
He is one of the leading figures in independent production in Italy.
From 1999 to 2009, he was Chief Executive Officer of GRUNDY (FremantleMedia/R.T.L. Group). Under his leadership, the company became a market leader in Italy and Spain, specialising in drama and entertainment and producing over 400 hours of content a year.
In 2010, he left the Fremantle group and launched Picomedia, which quickly established itself as one of the most significant independent operators in Italy. In 2020, he sold his controlling stake to the French holding company Asacha Media Group.
Among Picomedia’s greatest successes are the series Mare Fuori, a true example of multi-platform success, and the films Twice Born (starring Penélope Cruz and Emile Hirsch), La scuola cattolica (starring Valeria Golino, Riccardo Scamarcio and Jasmine Trinca), and Nostalgia (starring Pierfrancesco Favino, Francesco Di Leva and Tommaso Ragno), which was in competition at the 75th Cannes Film Festival.
