Sonia Rovai

Sonia Rovai was born in Milan in 1975 and has been working in the audiovisual sector for over 25 years.
She began her career while at university, helping to produce entertainment programs for R.T.I. and playing a part in the Italian launch of some of the most popular international formats of the early 2000s, such as Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? and Big Brother.
In 2004, she joined La7, where she worked on Gad Lerner’s L’infedele, shifting her focus to current affairs and in-depth political and cultural analysis.
She joined Sky in 2006 to coordinate the fledgling creative department for the Cinema channels, later taking on the role of Head of Production Services, with the task of overseeing all Sky original productions from both a production and contractual perspective.
Now Senior Director of Original Series at Sky Italia, part of the recently established Sky Studios hub supported by Comcast NBC Universal, she has over 80 Sky Originals to her credit. Among the most innovative and successful are: Gomorra, The New Pope, Devils, Zero Zero Zero, Anna, Django, Christian, A casa tutti bene, Petra and the first in-house production, Blocco 181. She worked on the post-production of the film adaptation of M – The Son of the Century, directed by Joe Wright, and on set, amongst others, of They Killed Spider-Man – The True Story of the 883, as well as the eagerly awaited returns of Call My Agent and the long-running I Delitti del Barlume. A number of new Sky Originals are currently in development and pre-production, set to debut from 2024 onwards, including L’arte della gioia by Valeria Golino and Dostoevskij, created by the D’Innocenzo brothers. She left Sky in 2023 and joined Wildside SRL in 2024, first as Managing Director and then as CEO.
