Stefano Sardo

Screenwriter, director and producer for Nightswim.
Born in Bra in 1972, Stefano Sardo is one of Italy’s most accomplished screenwriters. Together with Alessandro Fabbri and Ludovica Rampoldi, he created the Sky series 1992, 1993 and 1994. With the same trio, he adapted In Treatment (Sky) and, for the cinema, La doppia ora and the two films in the The Invisible Boy series directed by Gabriele Salvatores. Alone or with others, he has written films (Tatanka, Workers – Pronti a tutto, I milionari, Monolith, Il divin Codino, La cena perfetta, Cattiva coscienza) and TV series (I leoni di Sicilia for Disney+, Carême, the King of Chefs for Apple, La nuova squadra and Il sistema for Rai Fiction, Il 13° Apostolo for Mediaset). After directing a documentary in 2013 (Slow Food Story, for Indigo Film), in 2021 he made his feature film directorial debut with Una relazione, a romance presented at Venice which he also wrote (with Valentina Gaia) and produced; his second feature film, Muori di lei, written by him with Giacomo Bendotti and produced with Ines Vasiljevic for Nightswim/Medusa. He has published several short stories and four novels: L’America delle Kessler (Arcana, 2002), the two novels in The Invisible Boy series (Salani, 2014 and 2018), and Una relazione (HarperCollins, 2021). In his previous life as a musician, he wrote and sang songs with Mambassa — a band formed in 1995 with six albums to their name.
