Valeria Miranda

Valeria Miranda is an Italian casting director. Born in Naples, she began working on advertising castings in Milan at a very young age; a few years later, she moved to Rome to pursue her passion and work in cinema. She began collaborating with various directors, including Rolando Ravello, Giuseppe Gagliardi, Alessandro Genovesi and Guido Chiesa, working on a mix of comedies, TV series and arthouse films.
Her first major TV series was 1992, followed by 1993 and then 1994, produced for SKY. This series, conceived by Stefano Accorsi, tackled the difficult subject of the Tangentopoli scandal and introduced the public to talents such as Miriam Leone, Guido Caprino and many others.
This was followed by other major projects, including the Netflix TV series The Lying Life of Adults, and, prior to that, Don’t Kill, the debut film by Donato Carrisi; The Girl in the Fog, which won the 2018 David di Donatello Award for Best New Director; and The Man in the Maze, starring Toni Servillo and Oscar-winner Dustin Hoffman.
In 2021, for Giovanni La Parola’s film Il mio corpo vi seppellirà, she was nominated for a Nastro d’Argento award for Best Casting Director.
Since 2019, she has been a member of the Executive Committee of the UICD (Italian Union of Casting Directors), which champions the importance of the casting director’s role in film production.
